Butterfly - Calendar in a Box

zoom
Butterfly - Calendar in a BoxMake a calendar in a box for all the things you must remember to do all the year long. When do we get the pet's shots? When do we change the filter in the furnace? When does the car need the oil changed and the brakes checked again? When is Aunt Connie's birthday?

Just write birthdays and important info on 3x5 note cards and place them in a box with these pretty monthly dividers. You will be organized with all the things you must remember to do every month in one place. Plus I've also made a sheet of lined 3x5 cards to write on.

Stargazer Lily Invitations

One of my favorite flowers it the stargazer lily. I used to have them growing in my old garden. Today I plan to order some lily bulbs right after I post this. I was waiting until we bought our own property to plant a garden but after 2 summers of no garden I miss it too much not to have one. I hope you enjoy this invitation with this new stargazer lily design. It is pretty for any occasion. Wouldn't you love it for your birthday?

Best wishes,
Lynnette

Math Skills - Frog and Dragonflies

I have started to make some educational card games with my designs for the girls to play with. The first one I made on Saturday was the Frog and Dragonflies. Count the dragonflies flying around frog and match the number with the number on the puzzle pieces. We had great fun playing with this one. The next one I am making is about matching words that rhyme.

Hedgehog Balloon

Hedgehog Balloon - ACEO Original Watercolor with Embossing 3.5 x 5
Yesterday I got out some of my embossed paper and made some little original watercolor paintings. They are fun to draw while I play with the kids. So between drawing one or two lines I play pretend with the girls, walking around the toy animals and speaking their funny little conversations. "On no," says pony "Hedgehog is floating away on a balloon. Where is she going? You say to a tea party with ferret! Hey everyone, let's get our balloons and go with her to ferret's tea party! Away, Away."

To get this delicate embossing, the paper is first soaked and placed on top of the metal plate of my design. Two wool blankets are placed over the paper and it is turned by hand through my etching press. Then the paper has to dry sandwiched between blotter paper and wood overnight.

Look for new ACEO original watercolor cards daily at my etsy shop.

Zebra watercolor painting

My baby girl is always asking me to tell her a story. So I wrote up a story about a baby giraffe taking a nap. One of the pages called for an illustration of a zebra so I painted this beautiful creature a few weeks back. I just got around to making it into a note card designs. My next project is to put all the paintings together with the words and get a copy of the book printed out to read at nap time.

Lovey Safari - Invitations

Introducing the new Lovey Safari design! TaDa
I have been thinking about making a cute jungle animal invitation and card set. I've made some drawings in my sketch book last week and I worked on it all day and here is the result. My favorite animal is the zebra. She' s so cute! Which animal is your favorite? My baby girl, (she's 2) says she likes them all but the elephant. Some are harder to please than others. So back to the drawing board to try to get a design that baby girl gives the 100% "Yes I like it mom".

Frog Birthday Party

Today I made this Frog Birthday Party Invitation from the funny little frog I made a few weeks ago. My favorite part is the whispy grass. I think it turned out nicely. I haven't been selling many stationary sets but the children's birthday invitations are still selling. My guess is that moms are not buying things for themselves but making sure the children have happy birthday memories even if the economy is not so great.

I also made up a new banner design for my blog and etsy shop today. Let me know if you like it or think of any way to improve it.
Best Wishes,
Lynnette

Easter Chicks

Sunny yellow is for springtime chicks, ducklings and daffodils. I had fun painting these Easter chicks. When I was a child, I had a pet chick that was named Peeper. He was so fluffy and cute just like these paintings. One spring, my dad ordered a box of baby chicks through the mail. A whole box of sunny yellow chicks arrived for us to care for. We kept them under a heat lamp in the barn until they were big enough to be on their own outside. They ate yellow corn meal and drank water from a glass jar with a glass tray. I hope you enjoy these springtime chicks.

Spring Deer

Thursday we had a snow storm. I hope our little ladybug we saw on Wed. found a warm place to stay out of the storm. Today, Saturday, I saw 3 large female deer run through our front yard. They came and were gone so fast. Running north. They were very fast runners. My daughter kept asking," Where were the deer going?" I hope it was someplace where they could find some food. It was much warmer with about 1/2 of the snow melted.

We played outside in the snow and built a snow bear, instead of a snowman. We also built a snow castle by packing snow into pails and dumping them out to make the walls.

I painted this little picture of my girls floating away on a balloon with pink rabbit. Imagine what fun adventures they will find. Oh, to be free to go travel anywhere you wanted to go explore.

1st Ladybug of Spring!!

Guess What?? We found our 1st Ladybug of Spring today!! My 5 year old was digging in the dirt under the evergreen tree when she found a ladybug. she was a very bright deep red with three small black dots on each wing. She was a friendly little lady and allowed us to hold her in our hand while the ladybug walked up and down our fingers. The ladybug visited with us for about 10 minutes and then took flight and was gone last seen flying east.

When we came inside everyone drew pictures of our ladybug friend. The girls were excited about going outside tomorrow to see if we can find the ladybug in our yard again. It was only about 40 degrees and we had a light snow this morning but it melted by lunchtime.  Here is the link to my ladybug page of birthday invitations http://www.myartbylynnette.biz/birthday-girl.html

Valerie Floral

I made up this lovely floral design last night. I'm trying to make some more sophisticated designs with softer colors. I've been told that some of my color choices are too bright. Do you like this design with the little bird added as a touch of whimsy? The design is called Valerie after my cousin Valerie Sue Ewoldt.

I like these flowers so much I have started a watercolor painting on a full sheet of printing paper something like 3ft x 2ft size. I want to brighten up my kitchen with this design as a painting.
All the Best,
Lynnette

Baby Bunny

I drew this little baby bunny the other night just because she was so cute. She reminds me of the little baby bunny that I caught and held in my garden so many years ago. I hope you like her too.

I had been thinking about making a frog two days ago and then yesterday I had a special request for a frog design. I made this funny little tree frog on the left. It's goofy smile makes me smile too. Well it turned out that they wanted a common green frog (on right) so see which one you like best. I am also offering 2 inch thank you stickers that etsy shops can place in their orders. Any design can be made into these 2 inch circles.

Today I finished this design I had been working on of peacock feathers. When I was little, my family went to Minnesota to visit Rodger (one of our relations) who had a pet farm. He had like over 25 types of animals from rabbits to goats to chickens. He even had peacocks and gave us some feathers to take home. The feathers were so beautiful. I hope you like these feathers as much as I do.

Lynnette

Lucky Bear

I painted this cute little bear the other day. My 2 yr old daughter was watching me draw him while she was playing. I erased the face many times until she said yes that she liked the bear. I would ask her, "Do you like this bear?" She said, "No" quite a few times until I got it right. It's nice to have such an honest critic.
This bear design is the 80th item in my shop. My goal is to make one new item a day.

Best Wishes,
Lynnette
